I thought it would be important to cover this in this blog post, the difference between the matte and hydrating one.
The Matte One: When I first posted this I had quite a few followers tell me how the matte one resulted in a patchy, dry, splotchy finish! If you’ve been thinking about getting this one, I’d say skip it and try the hydrating one first.
If you have super oily skin, consider this type. Those with dry skin purchase the hydrating one!

What I Have To Say About This Product
- Sturdy Packaging: This is some durable packaging and I absolutely love the minimal look. Also, the applicator is definitely my favorite one I’ve ever used, it reminds me of the Tarte Shape Tape but a little bigger.
- High Quality: This is a great, high-quality concealer! Lasts all day, and does not streak, get patchy, etc.
- Long Lasting: One of the biggest things that stood out to me when I first started using it was the fact of how it stays on your skin! In the past, I’ve found that by the end of the day, other concealers have slipped off my skin. This one is not like that at all! Looks so good no matter the weather too.
- TONS of coverage: Another thing is the COVERAGE. This concealer is easily medium and can totally be built up to full coverage! Considering the price point, it gives some pretty great coverage.
- The Way You Apply It Matters: This kind of leads into coverage, but the way you apply it matters. I’ve noticed that using a small precise, brush is what’s going to give you the most coverage! If you want lighter coverage use a damp beauty blender or a big makeup brush.
- Shade Range: I love the diversity elf has! I always make sure whenever I review a coverage product that there are options for darker skin tones. Elf cosmetics definitely has some true dark shades! Just wanted to mention that as I know that it can be a struggle for those with dark skin to find the correct shades!
