Below is the step-by-step tutorial, the video tutorial is at the bottom!
Skin Prep
First up, skin prep is crucial in order to achieve a flawless base! Before applying any makeup wash your face. When your skin is clean and refreshed your makeup will look much better. The cleanser you normally use is perfect!
Moisturize
Hydrated skin is crucial, I can’t stress this enough. Especially if you have dry skin there will be a noticeable difference in how your makeup looks and how your skin feels.
The thicker the moisturizer the better, as a result, makeup will look flawless and blend way easier.
Elf Halo Glow
The Elf Halo Glow is an AMAZING product to pair with foundation! I tried it last month and was shocked at the difference it makes. For me, this is a must when I’m wearing foundation.
The light formula allows your skin to breathe, and as a result, your skin is glowing and it shows through the foundation.
After your skin is moisturized immediately apply the Elf Halo Glow on your skin. I recommend 4 streaks, both cheeks, forehead, and chin. Blend with a foundation brush.
You’ll immediately notice how your skin is glowing and there’s some slight coverage as well. This product is perfect for summer makeup looks and no makeup-makeup looks.
Makeup Brush Foundation
Ok, so this is crucial! Let’s quickly go over what makes a good foundation brush, because the finish really depends on the brush. That’s what we’re using to blend everything in!
Size: The brush size should be on the larger side, if you use a brush that’s small it’s going to take way too long and won’t look as flawless.
Density: I like to think about the density of the brush as well, the more bristles which are bunched up the better. This allows for a flawless finish.
Quality: You don’t need an expensive brush, I use affordable brushes and they’re perfect! Make sure the brush isn’t falling apart and is of good quality. The one I recommend is the Elf Cosmetics Ultimate Blending Brush.
Foundation I use
It’s no surprise that the foundation you use is important as well! When looking to purchase a foundation make sure it’s suited for your skin type.
Dry skin should implement a dewy, hydrating foundation to avoid patchiness. Learn more about makeup for dry skin here!
On the other hand, oily skin should look for long-wear, matte formulas. This way the makeup will hold onto your skin longer. Learn more about makeup for oily skin here!
My favorite foundation is the FENTY BEAUTY PRO MATTE FILT’R FOUNDATION!
Foundation Application
Finally, it’s time for the best part! Foundation application! Grab your foundation and apply one pump on the back of your hand. Press the foundation onto your hand so it’s able to collect the foundation.
I’ve found this is the best way to evenly distribute the foundation so it doesn’t end up looking patchy.
Now apply the foundation onto your skin by gently buffing the brush. Buffing means going in circles while moving the brush around your face. This is the best way to avoid a streak-free finish and have personally found this looks the best.
Continue to buff until everything looks blended. After, move onto your concealer.
Lock in that makeup!
Lastly, your makeup should be on so now we’re going to lock in that makeup! Grab a long-wear setting spray and spray it all over your face. The one I recommend is the Elf Cosmetics Micro Fine Setting Mist.
