Makeup Glow: Skin Prep Is Important!
You must keep up with skincare, this is crucial! The routine does not have to be a lot, but you should keep up with a skincare routine twice a day. This will allow for your skin to be healthier and happier. Additionally, your makeup will look better.
- Wash Your Face: Don’t use any normal cleanser though! Use one that is made for your skin type. This will improve your skin over time.
- Apply Moisturizer: Have dry skin? Use a night cream.
- SPF: This is a necessity, use a sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.
Exfoliation For A Makeup Glow
A low maintenance but effective thing to do is exfoliating! A lot of people overlook the power of exfoliation, but it’s super important and will improve your skin over time.
Why?! Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells. Over time, your skin will start to glow and become soft.
It’s incredibly affordable too, and your makeup will look better than ever! Learn more about exfoliation here.
Weleda Skin Food
The internet has been raving about this recently, but it’s been around for years! I decided to purchase it, and let me tell you it’s amazing for that glow we’re all trying to achieve.
The Weleda Skin Food is a rich and nourishing lotion. The ingredients made me a bit skeptical, it’s full of oils and other natural ingredients that may irritate skin but my skin has never been more glowing and hydrated.
I’d recommend giving it a go if you’re looking for something that will give you glowing makeup!
Elf Halo Glow/Skin Illuminator For Makeup Glow
A skin illuminator is one of the best ways to also achieve the glowing look.
Use a product like the Elf Halo Glow under your foundation and you’ll thank me later! Your skin will be prepped and ready for makeup all while looking dewy.
A base like this will also allow for the makeup to blend in easier and you’ll find yourself moving through your routine quicker.
Power Grip Primer
Primer makes all the difference! If you’re looking for something that will still maintain the glow we created but also hold onto your makeup, try the Elf Cosmetics Power Grip Primer.
This stuff is amazing, and the makeup will literally grip onto your skin. Allowing it to last long and look great all day/night
Initially, I didn’t think I needed to use a primer because I have dry skin, and my makeup usually stays put for a decent amount of time. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
It really works, especially for dry skin. I went from never using a primer to using it almost every day. It truly makes a difference, and my makeup looks amazing throughout the day.
Hydrating / Dewy Finish For Glowing Makeup
When it comes to your base, so foundation and concealer, go for products that will give you a dewy finish but have a lightweight feel.
This won’t weigh your skin down, but will still look good and if you’re one to go for matte makeup but still want that subtle glow, try a soft matte foundation like the Fenty Pro Matte Filter Foundation.
Highlight Blush
In your makeup routine, there are easy but dramatic steps that can make all the difference. I’m going to share one of my favorites.
The key to achieving a natural glow lies in your choice of blush. After applying your cream blush, use a blush highlighter. Dior offers a great option that I can personally vouch for – it truly makes a noticeable difference.
Simply smile and apply the blush highlighter on the apples of your cheeks.
Glossy Lips
Lastly, your lips also completely change the tone of your makeup routine. Use a lip oil or gloss, they give the same result so either is fine.
Line your lips beforehand to add a dramatic pop. This is always satisfying!
