Hello everyone, welcome or welcome back to this step-by-step guide on how to do a natural makeup look for school! At the end of this, you’ll know how to do simple makeup for school!
This is what this makeup look looks like on me, down below is the guide!!

1. Skin Prep
Always make sure to do your skincare routine before doing your makeup. There are two important reasons… one being that makeup looks a lot better if you do a skincare routine before makeup. The second reason is you’ll find that washing your face really wakes you up!
After doing your skincare apply facial mist or primer. Primer will fill the pores in your skin to give you an easier and smooth base to work with while facial mist hydrates and refreshes your skin.
I use rosewater, and I love the feel it gives my skin! You should wait around five minutes after you have completed prepping your skin. I use the Heritage Store Rosewater, this stuff is amazing. Been using them since I was 5!

2. Concealer
Depending on what you’re comfortable with and what your school allows concealer is next! If you don’t want to wear concealer skip this step and move on to step 3. When applying concealer make sure to use a damp beauty blender to get an even look!
I like to apply my concealer like this: (sorry if the photo is a bit blurry!) I also go over any areas where I have blemishes.
For over a year I’ve been using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer, I’m shade 120. I love this concealer it’s amazing quality too given the price and it doesn’t wear down either as the day goes on! It also stays on all day at school with a mask.

3. Eyeshadow
Since this is a school morning, assuming you’re in a rush you have two quick options. The first one is applying concealer onto your eyelids, it looks super natural and I do this every day. If you want a pop add your highlighter to your eyes. Simple and good-looking!
5. Blush
Time for my favorite makeup product blush! Blush can seriously pull a look together while making you look refreshed and natural. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know how I love to apply my blush!
Here’s where to apply the blush:
- Along your cheekbone
- The tip of your nose
Frequent readers also know how much I love Elf Putty Blush! Putty blush gives your skin a natural and healthy flush of color that contains no shimmers, so it really does look like your skin.
For those of you that want some shimmer, I recommend using the Revolution Laced Blush Palette! It contains 4 stunning shades of blush that looks good on any skin tone, it’s so beautiful!! I also used this on my Pinterest TV Episode for Prom Makeup 101 and people loved it!
8. Brows
For brows, you can do whatever you like! Since I don’t have time most school mornings to sit down and do my brows I would recommend using some clear brow gel if you need a recommendation I’ve been loving the NYX Clear Brow Gel!

6. Highlighter
Highlighter, this is what is going to give you that beautiful glow. I like to use FENTY and the shade is Hu$tla Baby! I’ve been using this exact highlighter for two years and have never looked back.
Apply the highlighter:
Your cheekbone: This should be right above your blush.
On the nose: Apply it on the tip of your nose, and lightly on your actual nose.
- If you do nose contour then apply the highlighter in the middle of the nose contour and tip your nose.
Inner Corners: Apply the highlighter on your inner corners, this also looks really good with the matte eyeshadow.
Brow bone: Lastly apply the highlighter under your brow bone! (but do this after you are done with brow makeup!)
7. Lashes
Recently I discovered the best way to curl my lashes, so now I’m going to share that with you!
- Hold your curler down for 3-4 seconds then release
- Repeat that 3-4 times
- Now it’s time to apply mascara! When you are applying mascara twist the mascara wand up against your lashes and do that until you like the way your lashes look, I would recommend 3 times!
- That’s all you need for a long-lasting lash curl!
10. Lips
Lips… finally the last product! I recommend lip gloss or tinted lip balm for those who wear masks, but you can do whatever you prefer.
Recently I’ve been loving N.G. Girl Lipgloss, they last for a long time too! I also love this brand because all of the glosses smell amazing!! When I want a bit of shimmer I use the elf lipglosses. Elf lipglosses also stay for a long time!
You can stop here, but below are some extra things I do!
11. Kajal
You don’t have to do this but I love the look Kajal gives me and it’s actually a necessity for me when it comes to makeup! It gives me such a bold look and really makes my eyes pop, definitely try it out if you’re looking to switch up your look.
The Kajal I use: Loreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner
Here’s the video I made on how I apply and get my kajal to last ALL day:

11. Setting Spray
Last but not least setting spray! Setting spray is perfect because it allows the makeup to be locked in and stay all day. Use 3 sprays, that should be enough to cover your whole face.
I use Benefit POREfessional Setting Spray, Benefit kindly gifted me this product along with some other things and I fell in love with their products even more! My makeup stays all day with a mask too. A cheaper option is the Milani Super Setter Spray!
Now you know how to do your makeup for school! I would recommend trying this look before school starts just so you know how to work with your face and what looks best on you! If you need a bit more help with makeup tips and tricks check out The Basics which covers all of that!
