Have a simple routine you know looks good with ANYTHING
Making sure that you have a routine that you know will look good no matter what will be helpful! Sticking to neutrals and colors that compliment you and any outfit you’re wearing is important. Take a look at your wardrobe and decide which type of makeup suits most of it, this helps with being able to guide you through being able to find the perfect routine!
When you have some time play around with narrowing down your routine to the most simple it can possibly be. Play some music, or watch something, make it a fun experience so that the most creative you can really show when trying to find a routine that suits you!
Here is what my “simple” routine entails
SKINCARE/COSMETICS
Skin Prep
If you don’t have time, it’s completely ok to only wash your face and apply moisturizer followed by SPF! There is no “one” way to prep your skin, sometimes less is more. Try out only using the three products above to minimize the time in your routine.
Exfoliating
Keeping up with your skincare routine is important! Exfoliating has many benefits not only can it remove dead skin cells, but with that, you will have soft, glowing skin for days. Looking into exfoliating once a week, can make a huge difference.
Remember to be careful if you have sensitive skin, and make sure to do a patch test before using it on your whole face. If you’re still worried because you have sensitive skin or acne, consult your dermatologist to see what they say about it.
Looking into treatments
If you’re wanting to spend 5 minutes tops on your makeup routine, looking into cosmetic treatments can also help! Getting facials every now and then, looking into lash extensions, or micro-blading are also other options for looking put together without really having to do anything!
One of my friends got lash extensions, and she looked like a complete different person. With that, she also looked way more awake, put together at literally all times!
MAKEUP ADVICE
Know Exactly What Your Favorite Products Are
It can be SOO annoying when you’re trying to sift through everything trying to decide which products to use! Minimizing it down to your “essentials” is important and will save lots of time. Once you’ve decided that, separate them from your other makeup so it’s easy to find.
Once I decided to implement this in my routine, it saved so much time!
Coverage
Don’t have time for foundation?! That’s ok, all you need is concealer in your actual skin tone and one a bit lighter. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner, but it’s honestly a great hack to easily stuff everything into your bag without having to bring a whole bottle of foundation!
When you need coverage, just pop it out of your bag and apply it where needed. I’ve found that using the Elf Cosmetics Buffing Brush is the quickest brush to blend everything in.
Eyeshadow
You do not need a whole eyeshadow routine, trust me. One shade looks great if done correctly! The best part about one shade is that it’s gonna look good no matter what. If you find that you’re someone who struggles with lots of eyeshadow fallout, and you’re looking for something that you can swipe and done you’re in the right place!
Eyeshadow sticks! They are the most straightforward form of eyeshadow there is that has absolutely no fallout. I use these every day. I don’t have time to deal with eyeshadow fallout, having to wipe it off, fix where it fell, etc! With these, there’s no hassle!

Stick To Products That Work With Your Skin Type
Sticking to products that work with your skin type is crucial to avoid having to fix your makeup while you’re doing it! Think of it like this, if you have oily skin and you put on liquid blush it’s going to need a whole lot more blending in powder which will take more time.
The correct way to approach this is to use powder makeup, so you can save time with less powder application and it’ll apply way more seamlessly.
Here is the breakdown for your skin types that you should always keep in mind:
Dry skin: You should focus on using cream and liquid makeup products, as this is most beneficial for dry skin. That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to use powder makeup products! You will definitely notice a difference in your base and how your makeup wears throughout the day when using makeup best suited for your skin type!
Oily Skin: Same goes for oily skin, but reversed! Using powder makeup will definitely help, as makeup is less likely to slip off your face. If you find yourself wanting to use liquid makeup, just remember that it may take up more time!
OTHER ADVICE
Get a good, durable bag
If you find that you’re someone on the go, that finds themselves always misplacing makeup either from stuffing it in your bag to your drawers, etc. purchasing a durable bag is the right move!
Especially if you do your makeup in the car on the way to work or school, you’ll find the process a lot easier having a dedicated bag for it!
Skip the extra stuff
Let’s be honest, you do not have to bake, set, etc. Cut it down to the absolute minimum amount that you need! If you want a matte finish, grab a fluffy brush and swipe some of your setting powder all over your face and you’ll be set to go.
